Coming soon
We're West Yorkshire's new transport network. From spring 2027, we start to bring buses back under public control, setting routes, timetables and fares ourselves, plus launching a new website and app. Read on for what's next.
The Weaver Network is our promise to create a modern, reliable and easy-to-use transport network across West Yorkshire. It will replace WY Metro and bring together buses, mass transit, rail, walking, wheeling and cycling under one new name and look.
But what does this mean for you? An easier way to get around, with joined-up journeys, consistent timetables, simpler ticketing, real-time updates and better walking and cycling routes. Eventually, one ticket could get you from door to door, however you're travelling.
So, you can think less about the journey and more about where it takes you, whether it's work, school, seeing family, a night out, or somewhere new.
Wherever you're going, the Weaver Network will get you there.
You may start waiting for your bus at a new green Weaver Network branded stop, shelter or station. These are gradually replacing our red WY Metro branded shelters as the older units reach the end of their lifespan.
Weaver Network buses will start appearing on some routes from spring 2027 as we bring them under public control, expanding across the region through the year. We’ll also launch our new website and app, making it easier to find travel information, plan journeys and buy tickets. You may also see our name at rail stations and on walking and cycling routes.
Weaver Network will continue to expand, bringing together bus, train, walking, wheeling, cycling and other future transport modes, helping you get from A to B more easily.
The name and look is inspired from our textile heritage and the many cultures that call West Yorkshire home. Think influences from Sari prints, African wax prints, and Yorkshire tweeds, as well as a nod to cultural icons like David Hockney, Barbara Hepworth, and Henry Moore.
The Weaver Network is for everyone, so we want it to represent our diverse communities and how an improved transport network will link them together.

Yes. Your MCard ticket will continue to work until its expiry date.
Any tickets and passes you've already bought can still be used until their expiry date.
You can keep using your MCard Annual Ticket until its expiry date. The name of the ticket may automatically change from April 2027, but it will still be valid for use. If you're unsure about your ticket, you can speak to our customer services team who can help. We will be sure to contact you if anything changes.
The Metro identity is being slowly phased out across the network. You will start to see upgraded bus stops, new signage, new bus stations, some rail stations and new uniforms in our travel centres. We will also be rolling out a new Weaver Network website and app.
We will keep customers updated throughout the roll out of the Weaver Network.
We're beginning to introduce Weaver Network bus stops across West Yorkshire as part of the move towards a more joined-up and recognisable public transport network. The new stops will help create a consistent look and feel across the network, making it easier for customers to identify public transport services and access travel information.
We're not replacing every bus stop at once. To make the best use of public money and avoid unnecessary waste, new Weaver Network stops are only being installed where existing Metro stops have been damaged, need significant maintenance, or have reached the end of their usable life. This means the rollout will happen gradually over time.
During the transition, you'll see a mix of Metro and Weaver Network bus stops across the region. Regardless of the branding, services will continue to operate as normal.
On the outside, the new Weaver Network buses will have a distinctively green Weaver Network look, including our eye-catching patchwork pattern. On the inside, our Weaver Network buses will have patterned seating, complete with distinctive wood effect flooring.
As the Weaver Network rolls out, you'll start to see more buses joining the network. Some of our older buses will continue to be used while they still have plenty of life left in them. Although they may not be fully rebranded straight away, they'll feature prominent Weaver Network branding, so you'll know they're part of the network.
Yes, the Weaver Network will replace Metro which has been our region's transport network brand since the 1970's. We're moving to the Weaver Network for a more modern and efficient system. And more importantly, the Weaver Network is more than just a brand refresh - it's a move to a unified, modern transport network bringing together all types of modes. This change will support a better customer experience with an improved ticketing offer, website, app and streamlined services.
Metro is the public-facing brand currently used by the Combined Authority for public transport information, travel planning and ticketing services across the region.
The Weaver Network is the next step for public transport in West Yorkshire. It will bring together buses, trains, walking, cycling and future mass transit services together under one clear, customer-focused network.
From 2027, as buses come back under public control, we'll have greater ability to shape routes, fares and services around the needs of local communities. Ultimately, it's about creating a seamless, connected travel experience that makes getting around West Yorkshire easier and more convenient.
The Weaver Network is more than just a new brand. It's a commitment to creating a simpler, better-connected transport system for West Yorkshire. By bringing buses, trains and other forms of transport together under one identity, the Weaver Network will make it easier for customers to travel across West Yorkshire. Journey planning, tickets, passes and travel information will all be available in one place, helping people move seamlessly across the network with a simpler, more joined-up experience.
The Weaver Network will make travel across West Yorkshire simpler by bringing buses, trains, walking, wheeling, cycling and future mass transit together under one connected network. This means services can be planned to work better together, helping reduce waiting times and making it easier to complete your journey.
By bringing buses back under public control, we can put customers first, designing routes, fares and timetables around local needs, with simpler ticketing across the network.
The Weaver Network will also support the local economy by connecting people to jobs, education and opportunities, making West Yorkshire an even better place to live, work and visit.
Yes, the Weaver Network is coming to every part of West Yorkshire, including Leeds, Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield.
The rollout will happen in phases, with the first Weaver Network buses launching in Kirklees and parts of Leeds in spring 2027. By the end of 2028, communities across all of West Yorkshire will be connected by a fully integrated network, making it easier to get where you need to go.
Bringing buses back under public control, also known as bus franchising, means we can set the standards and have greater control over routes, fares and timetables.
We'll set clear standards for operators and hold them accountable, so customers can expect a more reliable and consistent service wherever they travel in West Yorkshire.
Decisions about local buses will be made locally, based on what customers need.
Simpler fares and ticketing: We'll make fares, tickets and timetables easier to understand, making it simpler to plan and pay for your journey.
Greener buses: We'll introduce more zero-emission buses over time and set high standards for vehicles across the network.
Better stations and shelters: We'll improve key bus stations and shelters, making them safer, more comfortable and easier to use.
Improved passenger safety: We're investing in a dedicated team of 15 Police Community Support Officers, to help keep passengers safe across the network.
